Ishmael Miller is convinced Huddersfield Town can establish themselves as a competitive Championship club.

The 27-year-old striker has seen plenty of the second tier during his career and won two promotions to the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion.

And the Mancunian, who arrived from divisional rivals Blackpool on a short-deal at the end of the latest transfer window, has been impressed with the set-up in Huddersfield.

“There are a lot of good players here and a good blend of youth and experience,” said Miller, who scored his first Town goal to seal Tuesday’s 3-0 home win over Reading.

“I’m fortunate to have been promoted a few times in my career and been around good sides in the Championship.

“The squad here is as good as any I’ve been involved with and the coaches have been brilliant as well. I feel the club is going in the right direction and it’s great to be here.”

Miller is well known to Town coaches Steve Eyre and Frankie Bunn, who both worked him during his fledgling days at Manchester City.

“They were a factor in me coming here and since I’ve met the gaffer (Chris Powell), he’s been great with me as well,” he added.

Miller had two-and-a-half seasons in City’s first-team squad before a loan to West Brom became permanent for a £900,000 fee in January 2008.

He scored 21 times for the Baggies, and had a loan stint at QPR then joined Nottingham Forest in 2011.

After loans to Middlesbrough, where he played under his old West Brom boss Tony Mowbray, and Yeovil Town, he moved to Blackpool in August.

Miller has made five Town appearances, two of them starts, and his goal against Reading took his career haul to 45.
