HUDDERSFIELD Town skipper Peter Clarke is not being considered for tomorrow's trans-Pennine derby trip to Oldham Athletic.

The 29-year-old defender has been having specialist treatment in London on a back niggle and is expected to be fully fit to join manager Lee Clark's squad on Monday.

Centre-back Clarke had treatment on Tuesday and Wednesday in the capital  - missing the matches against Wycombe and Northampton - and he has returned there today.

The boss - whose only other absentee is goalkeeper Alex Smithies (knee) - explained: "Peter is not really suffering much of an injury any more.

"He's had a couple of days of treatment, been back up to Huddersfield and he's going back to the specialist today (Friday) for a third and final session of treatment.

"I spoke to the specialist last night and he is absolutely delighted with Peter's progress, so he will be joining in with the group again on Monday 100% fit and ready for the rest of the campaign."

Town's Nathan Clarke, who is on loan at Boundary Park, is unable to play for Paul Dickov's side against his parent club tomorrow. Oldham have deadline-day signings Tom Adeyemi (who Clark worked with at Norwich City) and striker Shefki Kuqi in their line-up while Jean-Yves Mvoto is expected to deputise for Clarke at the back.
