PETER CLARKE led Town back into the League I play-off zone with victory at Wycombe and proclaimed: “We’re determined not to drop back down.”

Town’s skipper knows Colchester can reclaim sixth spot by defeating Millwall today, but says he and his teammates are only thinking about beating Oldham in their other Easter fixture at the Galpharm tomorrow.

“What happens elsewhere happens,” he said. “All we can do is win our games, and we know that by doing that, we’ll stay in the top six.”

Clarke was talking after goals by Jordan Rhodes, his 21st of the season, and Theo Robinson, his 10th, sealed a 2-1 triumph.

“It feels brilliant to be back in the top six, but we know that the hard work is only just beginning.

“We need to prepare properly on the training ground, rest properly and the take up where we left off against Oldham tomorrow night.
