Huddersfield Town have extended centre-back Joe Wright’s loan to League II Accrington Stanley until the end of the season.

The 20 year-old academy graduate has so far made 14 starts and one substitute appearance for John Coleman’s seventh-placed side.

Wales Under 21 international Wright will now remain at the Wham Stadium to bolster Stanley’s promotion bid.

They host Notts County on Saturday.

Town head coach David Wagner said: “Joe has played regularly so it is perfect that we can extend his stay there until the end of the season.

“He can play regular football at a good level and at the moment I cannot guarantee him the opportunity to play here with Joel Lynch, Mark Hudson and Martin Cranie all in form and healthy.

“I also have another alternative here with William Boyle returning from York City.

“Our team will continue to watch Joe’s development closely. Hopefully he will continue to improve at Accrington.”

Wright was an unused Town substitute at first-team level four times last season.

He also started 27 games for the Under 21s, who reached the Professional Development League II Final.
