DEAN HOYLE was the one with the biggest smile as Town won the match which presented some friendly family rivalry.

For the Town chairman’s father-in-law Gerry Cooke is a Preston North End season-ticket holder and lifelong supporter.

Gerry and his wife Barbara were in the directors’ box to watch Saturday’s game with their daughter, Hoyle’s wife Janet, and while they all clearly had a good time, the Hoyles were obviously the happier after Town’s 3-1 win.

Town fans are always likely to give the Cookes a warm welcome any time they visit, because it was Gerry and Barbara who loaned the Hoyle’s £5,000 to start their first business!

It was crucial in getting them up and running and, of course, Hoyle became a massive success, selling his Card Factory chain for £350m in 2010 after taking control of Town.
