Dean Hoyle has revealed the search for Ross Wilson's successor is already well under way.

And the Huddersfield Town chairman says manager Chris Powell's close-season targets have already been identified with the help of the Southampton-bound director of football operations.

"It's a blow to lose Ross, but it is a fantastic step up for him and we have known internally for two months, so we have had time to have a good look at where to go from here," said Hoyle.

"Ross has put a lot of things in place, which means that as a club, we are on the front rather than back foot regarding forward planning, and he will be here part-time until the end of the season.

"We have already identified players we want to bring in during the summer, when the manager will have a chance to put his stamp on the team.

"That means it is not a bad time to have a gap in terms of Ross's situation, but it is a gap we aim to fill as soon as possible and ideally before the end of the season."
