Huddersfield Town boss David Wagner has received recognition from the Skybet Football League.

The German head coach has been named manager of the Football League Team of the Week following Town’s 4-1 win at Leeds United in the West Yorkshire derby.

That victory has been judged the best coaching effort by League judges, noting two of the goals were scored by substitutes Harry Bunn and Karim Matmour – his first in English football.

Town also fought back from behind after missing a penalty, with skipper Mark Hudson opening the scoring before leading marksman Nahki Wells rounded it all off with his 16th of the season.

The select team Wagner has been put in charge of would be interesting to watch – and it includes a former Town player in Lucas Akins of Burton Albion.

The 27-year-old striker Akins began his career at the John Smith’s Stadium and made five appearances in the 2007-08 campaign.

The line-up is a 3-4-3 formation, which Wagner would no doubt alter slightly to his favoured 4-2-3-1.

Team: Jonathan Mitchell (Luton) in goal, with defenders Marcus Olsson (Derby County), Shane Duffy (Blackburn Rovers) and Matt Preston (Walsall).

In midfield, the four are Callum O’Dowda (Oxford United), Ollie Clarke (Bristol Rovers), Lee Tomlin (Bristol City) and Chris Taylor (Millwall).

Up front, Wagner has Lucas Akins (Burton Albion), Ben Williamson (Cambridge United) and Sullay Kaikai (Shrewsbury Town).
