Huddersfield Town have confirmed they will play a friendly against Spanish side Deportivo de La Coruna at the John Smith’s Stadium on Wednesday, July 29.

Town’s only home pre-season game will kick-off at 7.45, with admission prices yet to be announced.

Deportivo, coached by their former midfielder and Spanish international Víctor Sanchez, finished 16th in La Liga last season.

Sanchez, who also played for Real Madrid, replaced sacked Victor Fernandez in April.

Deportivo won the title in 2000 and reached the Champions League semi-finals in 2004, with Sanchez involved as a player.

But in more recent times, they have but have since been beset by financial problems and were relegated in 2011 and 2013.

Town have previously played hosts to Spanish sides Athletic Bilbao (2002), Real Sociedad (2006), Barcelona B (2012) and Real Betis (2013).

This year, they open their pre-season programme at Guiseley on Saturday.

Town play Leyton Orient in Spain seven days later, July 18.

They go to Grimsby Town on Tuesday 21, Rochdale on Saturday 25 and Barnsley on Saturday 1.
