Huddersfield Town defender Danny Kane made his second appearance for the Republic of Ireland Under 19s in three days.

The 18-year-old skippered the side and scored a late equaliser in Saturday’s 1-1 friendly draw with Ukraine at Markets Field, Limerick.

And in the follow-up fixture against the same opponents at the same venue, the centre-back played the second half of a 2-1 defeat.

Kane, who was named the Republic’s Under 17 player of the year in March and has also played for the Under 18s, joined Town’s academy from Dublin side Cherry Orchard in 2013.

He was handed a professional contract in the summer.

Dundalk’s Georgie Poynton wore the captain’s armband in the second game.

Sunderland’s Dan Casey put the Republic ahead in the first half, but Ukraine scored twice in three minutes in the second half.

The Republic are preparing for the 2016 European Under 19 Championship qualifying campaign, which begins in November.

They are in Group A alongside Scotland, Slovenia and Latvia.
