Huddersfield Town defender Danny Kane has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under 18 squad for two friendlies against Luxembourg.

He will join up with coach Paul Doolin and his teammates in Dublin on Saturday.

The games, both in Luxembourg, are on Tuesday, June 2 and Thursday 4.

Kane, now 18, was named the Republic’s Under 17 Player of the Year in March.

This is the centre-back’s first call-up at Under 18 level.

Signed from Dublin side Cherry Orchard in February 2013, he made 14 appearances for Town’s Under 18 team as they won the Professional Development League II North title this season.

He also played four times for the Under 21s and will join the development squad next season.
