Huddersfield Town defender Danny Kane is hoping for a second Republic of Ireland Under 18 chance in Luxembourg tomorrow.

After playing his part in a 1-0 success against the hosts in Hobscheid, the 18-year-old former Cherry Orchard player will hope to have done enough to get a second call from coach Paul Doolin when the Republic face the same opposition in Schifflange.

When earning his first cap, Kane was involved in a 28th-minute move which led to the Republic having the ball in the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside.

Luxembourg eventually went behind in the 56th minute and were never able to recover, Kane delighted to play the whole game and help his side keep a clean sheet.

A central defender, Kane made 14 appearances for Town’s Professional Development League 2 North winning Under 18 side last season, as well as four appearances for Frankie Bunn’s Under 21s.

He has a professional contract with Town and will be part of the Development Squad next season, when he’ll be hoping to make the most of this latest international experience.
