Joel Lynch aims to prove his fitness to face former club Nottingham Forest insisting: “They’re a different club to when I was there.”

Town paid £200,000 to bring in the centre-back, who took a knock to the ankle against Charlton Athletic on Saturday, two seasons ago.

The Welsh international defender, 26, made 85 appearances in four years with Forest after starting his career at Brighton.

“There’s only a few players left from my time there,” he said of the Championship leaders, who are unbeaten this season.

“I’m confident of being fit and looking forward to playing against them, but I look forward to all matches.

“It’s great that we have a home tie, and we want to make some progress in this competition.”

Lynch’s Town teammate Lee Peltier is also a former Forest player, having had a loan spell there from Leeds last season.

He made seven appearances and was linked with a permanent switch to the City Ground.
