Joel Lynch says Huddersfield Town must come out “all guns blazing” at Sheffield Wednesday if they are to avoid a slog between now and the end of the season.

With seven games to go, starting at Hillsborough on Saturday week, Chris Powell’s side are nine points above the Championship relegation zone in 18th place.

After climbing into the top half of the table by beating Reading 3-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium last month, Town have taken only two points from their last six games.

Centre-back Lynch, who returned from a groin injury to feature in the last four games, says there is no complacency over avoiding being drawn into a survival scrap.

Town suffered a 17th defeat of the season against Fulham last Saturday, and have now conceded 67 goals, the third-worst tally in the division.

And Welsh international Lynch said: “People have been saying we’re safe. But if things like that keep happening, it will be a slog to the end of the season.

“We’ve got to buck our ideas up and come out all guns blazing against Sheffield Wednesday. We have to be better than we have been.”

Town lost 2-0 to Fulham despite dominating the game and Lynch added: “We do this all the time. We outplay teams but end up losing. It’s very disappointing.”

Sheffield Wednesday are 12th in the table after their 3-2 derby win at Rotherham United.
