Huddersfield Town defender Jordan Williams is looking towards the European Championships after earning his sixth England Under 17 cap in the 1-1 draw in Portugal.

Steve Cooper’s charges had already claimed a place in the elite qualifying stages after beating San Marino 8-0 and Armenia 5-0 in the initial phase in Portugal.

Centre-back Williams played the full 90 minutes of those two games as well as against the hosts, when the point gained put them top of their group.

Skipper captain Trevoh Chalobah, of Chelsea, scored for England in Coimbra.

The Euros take place in Azerbaijan in May, with the 15 sides who will join the hosts being decided via the elite round in March.

The elite round will involve 32 sides, Germany having gained automatic entry to that stage as top seeds.

There will be eight groups, with the winners and seven best runners-up going through.

As well as England, Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Portugal, the Republic of Ireland, Russia, Sweden and Turkey have also booked a place in the elite round.
