NATHAN CLARKE is determined to make the League I play-offs with Colchester this season.

Clarke, 27, is on loan to the ninth-placed club from third-placed Town and heads to Plymouth on Saturday focused on closing a four-point gap on the top six.

The popular Galpharm centre-back said: “Huddersfield are doing well and rightly so, as they have a strong squad.

“But I’m here and I want to do everything I can to make sure that final push for the U’s is a positive one.”

Since making the switch in January, Clarke has made five appearances for John Ward’s side and is getting used to his new surroundings.

“It’s fantastic, I feel like I’ve settled in really well,” he said.

“I’ve got some good mates here now, which always makes it easier. When your family aren’t here it can get a bit lonely sometimes.

“I feel part of it, which also makes it a lot easier.”

But he insisted he had not contemplated his future beyond the end of his loan spell, which finishes at the end of the season.

“With the amount of games and training we’re doing, I’m just taking it as it comes,” he explained.

“If I keep giving the performances I know I can then anything can happen.

“It’s the final push we’re all geared for, getting into those play-offs and showing people what we’re all about.”

His younger brother Tom, of course, scored his first goal of the campaign as Town drew 1-1 at Dagenham and Redbridge on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, former Town player Darren Bullock will take part in a Question and Answer session at Canalside on Saturday from 12.30pm to 1.30, which also includes Andy Booth. It’s free for members, with guests of members paying £2.

Promotion-winning midfielder Bullock will then be a guest in the White Rose club before Town’s match against Leyton Orient.

It is Town’s Kirklees Active Leisure dedicated day on Saturday and, at the gym end of the stadium, there will be a fun fair, face painting and various other attractions for youngsters.

Anyone for a ticket to the game can also get free swimming at the Sports Centre on Saturday (1pm to 2pm) and at the stadium pool (4.45pm to 7.30).
