Paul Dixon says he’s got over his disappointment at missing out on Scotland selection once again.

As the home nations await tomorrow’s Euro 2016 qualifying tournament draw, Scotland chief Gordon Strachan is preparing for the friendly in Poland a week next Wednesday.

Ollie Norwood and Martin Paterson will be expected to feature in the Northern Ireland squad for their game in Cyprus.

England host Denmark while Wales are at home to Iceland.

Defender Dixon will watch on, resigned to the fact he may not add to the three caps he won last season, his first at Town after moving from Dundee United.

I know Mr Strachan was at our game at Birmingham last Saturday, but I also knew he was there to see Chris Burke, who did make the squad,” said the 27-year-old.

“Of course I am a proud Scot. I am honoured to have played for my country three times and I would love to do so again, but I don’t pick the team.

“At the end of the day, Huddersfield Town pay my wages, and my priority is playing well at club level.”

“I was disappointed not to make the squad, bit I’m over it now and focused on a big spell of games here.

Dixon has certainly caught the eye of late, and after struggling to tie down his place at the start of the season, is in line to make his 26th appearance of the season, and 66th in total for Town against Sheffield Wednesday at the John Smith’s Stadium today.
