Huddersfield Town have loaned teenage centre-back William Boyle to Macclesfield until October 3.

It’s a second stint in the National League for the 19-year-old, who made two appearances for Kidderminster Harriers last season.

Those outings came after his Town debut, as a late substitute in the 3-0 home Championship win over Reading in February.

Boyle, from Garforth, is a Town academy product, having joined the club as a 15-year-old.

He qualifies for Scotland through his father, and has attended Under 18 training camps.

His mentors at Macclesfield will include former Town centre-back Efe Sodje.

The one-time Nigeria international is assistant to manager John Askey at Moss Rose.

Sodje, skipper when Town beat Mansfield Town in the 2004 League II play-off final in Cardiff, watched Boyle in Town’s recent Under 21 friendly at Brighouse.

He was also at Rochdale for the first-team friendly in which Boyle was an unused substitute.

Macclesfield begin their National League campaign at fellow former Football League club Torquay United on Saturday.

Boyle is the third Town player to be loaned out this close-season.

Fellow defender Joe Wright has joined League II Accrington Stanley, also until January 2.

And forward Jake Charles will spend the next month at National League newcomers Guiseley.
