Huddersfield Town’s Development Under 21s will play Swansea City in their play-off final.

The Welsh side recovered from two goals down to draw 3-3 in their semi-final at Nottingham Forest and then win a penalty shoot-out 5-4.

A toss-up will be staged to decide whether the final will be in West Yorkshire or South Wales and a date has yet to be fixed.

Swansea – who have Kenji Gorre, son of Dean, in their line-up – finished second in the Professional Development League Two and were pipped to the title by Crystal Palace, who Town defeated 5-3 in the other semi-final

Jorge Grant and James Thorne put Forest 2-0 up at half time at the City Ground and they retained that lead until five minutes from time, when Swans midfielder Henry Jones pulled one back.

Three minutes of stoppage time had been played when Swansea grabbed a dramatic equaliser to force extra-time, Alex Samuel breaking clear and forcing his shot under the keeper.

Swansea then went ahead in the final minute of the first half of extra-time when Samuel pounced again, but two minutes after the re-start Alex Iacovitti made it 3-3.

Gorre took the first Swansea penalty and scored before Tyler Walker equalised. Henry Jones and Adam Crookes then traded successful kicks before Adam King put Swansea 3-2 up.

Giancarlo Gallifuoco the put Swansea 4-3 ahead before Oliver Davies saved the next Forest kick from Roger Riera.

Raheem Hanley then had his potential match-winner saved before Matt Cash levelled it up at 4-4 for Forest.

In sudden death, Samuel put Swansea ahead and then Davies saved again from Iacovitti to put the Swans through.
