Huddersfield Town will take on Shrewsbury in the first round of the EFL Cup.

Previously the Capital One Cup, Town will travel to Greenhous Meadow in the week beginning August 8.

The ground has a capacity of 9,875 and the Shrews are managed by Micky Mellon.

Town last met Shrewsbury in April 1995, losing 2-1 in what was then Division 2, although they did win the home fixture that season by the same scoreline.

Last term, Town lost to Notts County in the first round of this competition, while the Shrews shocked Blackburn before losing to Crystal Palace in the second round.

However, they did make it to the last 16 of the FA Cup before being knocked out by Manchester United.

This fixture will be sandwiched between Town's opening day home clash with Brentford and the following Saturday's away trip to Newcastle.
