Dean Hoyle has frozen Huddersfield Town’s season-card prices for a further six days – and urged the Huddersfield public to back his bid to make the club a real Championship force.

The deadline for first-phase prices, which has the cheapest adult card at £249, is now 5.00 next Wednesday.

The chairman accepts the finish to this season has been disappointing, but insists Town can learn lessons and move forward.

“For the first time in some years, our divisional status is confirmed and we can enjoy a more relaxed final day,” he said.

“Next season, the level of competition looks set to increase, with the likes of Wolves and a very ambitious Brentford promoted and several other strong clubs possibly being relegated from the Premier League.

“At least two strong teams with huge parachute payments will have Championship play-off disappointment as well.

“With several big derbies and a number of clubs who are set to have a go, the 2014-15 Championship will be a great division.

“We’ve had a very disappointing end to the season.

“As a Town fan I know as much as anyone the ups and down of supporting this club! What I also know is that our fans have the loyalty and commitment.

“Having retained Championship status, I am looking forward very positively.

“We all have another year’s experience, we are in a better position than this time last year in many key areas and an extra year of development will stand us in good stead.

“By learning from the season, building on what we are good at and sorting out what we don’t do well, plus carefully targeted recruitment, I’m confident we can push on.”

Hoyle says season-card sales can underpin the push for success.

“We need Town fans to back us and then together we can make an impact,” he added.

“We are all up for meeting the challenge of the Championship head on and feel we can do much better, but we need support.

“With Financial Fair Play starting to bite, we should be under no illusions – season-card sales will have a direct effect on how we can build the playing squad, compete and continue to develop.

Season cards at their current prices represent the best value for money to come and watch our 23 home games.

“Many of the prices are frozen from last season, and while on occasion, we will continue to offer special discounted prices on specific games to try get new fans in, over the duration of the campaign season cards will offer the lowest price per game.

“The strapline this season is ‘building for the future, on and off the pitch’ and I believe we are doing that.

“Since 2009, Huddersfield Town have been on an upwards curve. I know there have been difficult spells but equally I believe in what we are doing.

“To keep moving forward, we need the fans on our side.

“We’ve done everything we can to make season cards as affordable as possible, and hopefully fans will take advantage.”
