A MASSIVE 80% of Town fans are happy for Mark Robins to be Huddersfield Town’s new boss.

In our survey which closed at 9.30am today on www.examiner.co.uk more than 300 fans took part and four out of five were delighted at the prospect of welcoming the 43-year-old.

We also gave Town fans the choice of five priorities and asked what should any Robins concentrate on.

Fans say any new boss's top priority is to keep Town up.

Strengthening the squad comes next on the agenda, before the creation of an attractive playing style.

Developing young players for the first team was fourth ahead of communicating with fans which was in fifth and final place.

Asked which area of the team should be the focus for strengthening, supporters voted 70% for the strikeforce, with 16% wanting reinforcements in defence.

One fan said: “Could not have been a better appointment for HTFC,” in reference to Robins.

Another added: “Should be a good choice, but will need time from everyone concerned. The most successful teams have long-serving managers, coaching staff and players – there are no quick fixes in football for success.”

Typical of many fan comments was this: “An excellent choice. He’s used to working with tight budgets in this division. More of what he did with Barnsley welcome.”

Other comments were:

Home form needs to be more consistent

If MR has the same impact with Town that he had with previous clubs we should be OK.

Don't be afraid to tell the fans what you are doing. From noises in the stands, they like to kept informed. Also, buy players or bring them through the ranks. No more loans, one volunteer is better than two pressed men! Thanks Mr Lillis and good luck Mr Robins.

It's important the new manager shows passion and also that he pulls the whole dressing room together. He could learn a lot from Mark Lillis!

He needs to be able to adress problems with the squad and when tactics go wrong. Try to keep our cup run going and to ultimately make town a force to be reckoned with.

Staying up is a MUST

We need to be moving towards 5 or 6 players who have come through the development squad. Lee Clark brought/bought in too many players and moved on our own younger players. But now with Sinnott, Holmes, Atkinson and Crooks coming through we are moving in the right direction.

Would prefer Mark Lillis as manager. Hope he is given charge of Town for the match on Sunday.

I hope he builds up a similar rapport with the players as Lillis has and that he is a master tactician.

Not as proven as I would have liked and not in my top 5 managers I would have liked, but I will back him and hope he does well for us.

We need conistency at the club - lets hope Mark Robins - stays and grows with the club. Changing managers every few months or years is no good - look at the successful clubs - it takes a while - but why the rush to be bigger - look at Bradford City - they have been there...now rebuilding once again.

Get the team passing the ball & dominating possession! No long ball rubbish.

We need somebody who can score 20 goals a season. Every team that does well has a natural goalscorer. We have never properly replaced Rhodes.

We have a large pitch, so we need quality wide men, rather than a narrow midfield. Scannell should start whenever possible, preferably out wide, with another real time winger on the opposite flank, and another wide man on the bench. Also one strong midfielder who can run through from deep into attacking/scoring positions similar in style to Frank Lampard. Once the strikers get time to play together regularly they will put away the chances created by the midfield, provided the midfield are creating chances!

I don't think Robins has the pedigree required to take the club forward his only success is getting Coventry up near the play off places in League one, apart from that he hasn't done a lot.

Dean pays his money so makes his choice. Picked him out early doors will get my full backing.UTT

Improve discipline and reduce cards received.

Ensure they get back to having a fiting spirit and "never say die" attitude.

Can't understand this appointment at all...COMPLETE GAMBLE

More clean sheets required. More consistency and more youngsters transitioning through to the first team...

Excellent choice. He's used to working with tight budgets in this division. More of what he did with Barnsley would be welcome.

Very happy with the prospect of Mark and his team.
