Huddersfield Town's longest-running transfer saga has finally come to an end with the loan capture of Liverpool keeper Danny Ward.

The young stopper has been linked with a year long move to the John Smith's Stadium repeatedly, but his involvement in Euro 2016 with Wales meant that a deal always had to wait until he returned from France.

Ward, 23, is still due some time off following his country's thrilling run to the semi-finals and will join up with his teammates in time for the trip to Austria on July 23.

However, the deal has now been rubber-stamped and the keeper becomes David Wagner's 11th first team signing of the summer.

The fact he has taken the no.1 shirt indicates his status in the pecking order.

And Town supporters didn't take long to take to social media to show their delight at another astute piece of business.

Here's how the fans reacted.

Fair to say people are expecting big things from the new addition, who is well thought of at Anfield.

Even though it feels like the deal has dragged on for a while....

More than a few are noticing the difference between this year and previous summers.

And the predictable optimism just keeps increasing with each new signing.
