His grandad Ian Greaves was an FA Cup finalist with Manchester United in 1958 and took Town to the last eight in 1972.

And dad Gerry Quinn was the first manager to take the original Emley to the first round proper in 1991.

Now Paul Quinn is aiming to enjoy his own bit of cup magic when he takes his Brighouse Town side to former Football League club Stockport County on Saturday.

And the 29-year-old boss, whose team is packed with Huddersfield-based players, is hoping Town fans will back the bid to dump the Hatters from the world-famous competition.

“I’m a big Town fan myself, so I’m well aware of the Blackpool game being brought forward to tomorrow,” said the secondary school PE teacher and sports co-ordinator.

“If any supporters are at a loose end on Saturday and fancy watching a game, they’d be more than welcome over at Edgeley Park.”

It’s the second of four qualifying rounds and Brighouse have already claimed three cup scalps in Northern League trio Seaham Red Star, Billingham Synthonia and Crook Town.

Stockport were in the Football League as recently as 2011, and even though they are struggling in the Conference North, are firm favourites.

But Brighouse, who were Northern Counties East League runners-up last season and are plotting promotion to the Evo-Stik (Northern Premier League), are relishing their challenge.

“Stockport are three levels above us on the football pyramid, so I’m not going to make any rash predictions,” said Quinn.

“But we’ve already gone further than ever before in the FA Cup, and this tie is a reward for four battling displays (it took a replay to get past Billingham).

“We’ve prepared properly and we’ll go over there, give it our best shot, and see where it takes us.

“Whatever the outcome, it will be a great experience for my players, and this match will also benefit the club financially.”

Quinn won the West Riding County Amateur League with Bay Athletic and also played for Liversedge and Mossley.

He cut his managerial teeth with successful Sunday side Huddersfield Irish Centre and Kirkburton, of the WRCA League, before taking over at Brighouse two years ago.

His squad includes prolific scorer Tom Mathews, formerly of Meltham and Storthes Hall, who has already notched 12 times this term.

Brighouse, who have won their last four games, are set to come up against former Town striker Phil Jevons, who joined Stockport from Hyde in the close-season.

Brighouse’s second string are in action at Garforth Town tonight, when they will be chasing a sixth win in as many Galaxy Lancashire League East Division games.

AFC Emley Reserves were beaten 4-3 by Ossett Albion at the Welfare Ground.

Emley Under 19s were 5-0 home winners over Eccleshill United in their latest Northern Alliance West Division game. Ruben Jerome scored twice.
