Huddersfield Town fans want a first win of the season, a positive approach throughout matches and Jacob Butterfield to stay.

That’s the flavour of comments posted on www.examiner.co.uk following the 1-1 draw at Fulham in which the home side equalised four minutes into stoppage time.

Nahki Wells had given Town the lead on 63 minutes and that goal seemed certain to earn three points at Craven Cottage until substitute Cauley Woodrow struck.

London-based fan Philip said: “Gutted! Just about deserved three points.

“First half not good; major ball retention tactic seemed to be to knock it long down the flanks and gain a throw-in.

“I don’t ‘get’ Wells being played as a lone striker, it’s not playing to his strengths and 90% of the balls to him hand possession back straight away.

“Second half much better and Wells took his goal well, maybe Scannell should have scored too.

“On the day Murphy (Smithies won’t be missed?) and Butterfield were class acts; but we urgently need a win.”

John Williams, from Birmingham, added: “Excellent away performance from the lads. So unlucky to concede late on but ‘hey ho’ we move on.

“Onwards and upwards. Up the Town.”

SPH, of Almondbury, picked up on the Butterfield theme with Town bracing themselves for a possible fourth offer from Derby County for the talented midfield playmaker.

“Another superb display from Butterfield who is the lifeblood of the team,” he said.

“He simply must stay!”

Ken, in Turkey, worries about Town’s defensive failings late in matches.

“When did town last keep a clean sheet?” he questioned.

“Watching the final results come up you just knew Fulham would score. How many goals have they conceded in the last 10 minutes of a game?

“Been an often disillusioned supporter since Jimmy Glazzard time. All the best to you all.”

Nick, from Wakefield, labelled events at Craven Cottage in just one word – negative.

While Paul from Romford reckoned: “Town best of two poor sides.

“Team lacked cohesion and too many passes under or over-hit, or simply not on target.

“Murphy looks fine, though, and Wells was good but too selfish when others were in better positions.

“Smith very poor but none of the back four shone. We should have won – closed things down far too soon.

“Miller was playing into corners as soon as he came on and Cranie for Wells meant we invited them to attack and got what we deserved."
