Jason Davidson was left to rue the two points that got away against Nottingham Forest.

The Australian left-back, playing against one of his dad Alan’s old clubs, reckons that had Town’s goal, scored by Emyr Huws, come earlier than the 85th minute, they would have gone on to win rather than draw 1-1.

“We got the point, and we deserved that at least, but there is a bit of frustration we didn’t get all three,” said the 24-year-old.

“We started well, and they only really got into our box the one time and punished us (Ryan Mendes netted in the 23rd minute).

“Then they tried to defend their lead, but we kept working to nick at least one back.

“We finally got the goal, but unfortunately there was not enough time to get a second.”

Davidson, freshly called up by Australia for their World Cup qualifier in Jordan on Thursday, October 8, says the display is further proof Town can compete in the Championship this season.

“We are going shoulder to shoulder with the sides we are facing,” he added.

“We had two great results before Forest (the wins over Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers), and we have some momentum and confidence.

“I think the transfer window closing has definitely helped.

“There was a period of uncertainty as to what deals might get done.

“That made it hard for the fans and the players, but now things feel far more settled.

“We have worked on a formation and system of play which suits out strengths.

“Nobody is getting carried away, we are just taking it one game at a time.

“It’s Wolves next (on Saturday, October 3) and that’s what we are thinking about now.”
