Mark Lillis will tell his Huddersfield Town kids to reach the final whistle of their big FA Youth Cup quarter-final tie at Fulham with no regrets.

Victory at Craven Cottage (7.00), will put the club into the last four of the prestigious competition for only the third time and the first since 1975.

The Londoners are second in the Premier Academy League Southern section and won at Manchester City in the last round.

Their lofty league position, plus home advantage, makes them the favourites to clinch a two-legged semi-final showdown with Reading.

The Royals overcame Liverpool in their quarter-final, and academy manager Lillis says that should provide inspiration for Town, who beat Manchester United to progress to this stage.

“Fulham are a good side,” he said. “We know it will be tough, but let’s not forget we are top of our league (Professional Development II North) a not a bad side ourselves.

“Frankie Bunn and Tony Carss have done a great job preparing the team. We’ve treated the tie properly, with an overnight stay, and we will have a final session at QPR’s training ground.

“It will be a great experience to play at a Premier League stadium. The lads have already won at West Brom, and the main thing is that they give it everything and have no regrets coming home.”
