David Wagner says left-back Jack Senior is one of a number of Huddersfield Town development players “on his radar”.

His comments will come as a big incentive as Frankie Bunn’s side prepare for their Under 21 Premier League Cup quarter-final against Charlton Athletic at the John Smith’s Stadium on Monday (1.00).

“Jack has caught the eye ever since I arrived here,” said head coach Wagner of the 19-year-old.

“He came on the training trip to Spain (in November) so I was soon aware of him, as well as a number of our development players.”

Senior, from Halifax, impressed in the 2-0 second-round victory at Southampton.

That was a 15th win in 16 unbeaten games for Town, including other Premier League Cup victories over Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough.

But they were beaten 2-0 at Sheffield United in the Professional Development League II ast Monday, so will be looking to bounce back.

While Bunn’s charges top the Northern section, Charlton lead the Southern division.

Coached by Simon Clark, the yound Addicks are on an excellent run of form, unbeaten in 17 matches.

They came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1 last time out and have seen off Ipswich Town, Watford and Brentford in the Premier League Cup.

Town beat Charlton 6-5 on penalties after a goalless extra-time draw in last season’s second round before losing 1-0 at home to Reading in the quarter-finals.

Bunn’s side were missing regulars William Boyle, Phil Billing, Ronan Coughlan and Danny Kane against Sheffield United a week ago.

West Ham United are already through to the Premier League Cup semi-finals after a 2-1 home win over Blackburn Rovers.

The other quarter-finals are between Liverpool and Everton or Brghton and Millwall and Hull City.

It’s £2 entry for Town season-card holders and concessions against Charlton and £4 for adults.

Town Under 18s’ PDL II clash at Birmingham City on Saturday was postponed because of waterlogging.
