Ross Wilson has today been made a director of Huddersfield Town.

The 32-year-old steps up to join chairman Dean Hoyle, operations director Ann Hough, commercial director Sean Jarvis and chief executive Nigel Clibbens at the very hub of the club.

The news comes just days after Town completed a £1.3m swoop for Bradford City frontman Nahki Wells – who scored on his debut to seal the 1-0 win over Millwall – and as the chase for Kidderminster Harriers’ winger Joe Lolley seems set to be won.

Wilson will retain his title of Head of Football Operations at his own request.

Wilson’s day-to-day role includes leading the club’s football operations, including the Academy, recruitment scouting, analysis and sports science.

Wilson said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club so far; I feel we’ve made massive progress and transitioned since arriving in the Championship.

“I was previously a member of the executive board at Watford and that gave me an insight into the full running of a club, whereby previously my focus was developing the football aspects.

“Although my role here is to focus on the development of the football department, I can see how the rest of the club has progressed too, and I’m excited about what the future holds for Huddersfield Town.

“I would like to thank Dean and the directors for giving me this opportunity.”

Wilson joined Town in August 2012, having previously worked at Watford – where he teamed up with Malky Mackay ahead of Sean Dyche’s appointment – and Falkirk.

Owner-chairman Dean Hoyle said: “We have a small team – Mark Robins, Ross, me and Nigel Clibbens manage the football side of the business – and I believe it is only right and fair that we bring Ross on board as a director in recognition of the work he has done behind the scenes.

“The structure we have in place, from the Academy through to the first team, bodes well for the future.

“Our board of directors is very dynamic; everyone is ‘at it’ every hour of the day.

“As anyone who knows Ross will testify, there is nobody more ‘at it’ than him!”
