Huddersfield Town could house away supporters in a ‘home’ area of the John Smith’s Stadium – in exceptional circumstances.

Chairman Dean Hoyle has asked season-card holders for their co-operation in potentially earning the club extra revenue.

Town, who have just announced prices for 2015-16 season cards, have secured the option of accommodating away fans in the South end of the Britannia Rescue (Kilner Bank) Stand.

That’s adjacent to the Chadwick Lawrence South Stand, currently the ‘away end’.

The plan could be put into practice when away ticket demand exceeds 4,000.

“I am asking season-card holders in the Britannia Rescue South blocks 6-9 to support this and be prepared to relocate if required,” said Hoyle.

“This will help generate much-needed additional cash in order for the club to progress.

“I expect it would be rare, but it is an option we must have available.

I understand this may disappoint some, but it is a course of action that would help the club.”

Town are also offering season cards for part of the current away end to home supporters for the first time.

It means they will have fans behind both goals at the bulk of their home games next season.

When opposing teams bring more than 2,500 fans, season-card holders at that end of the stadium will have to relocate.

Town hope that will happen only five times at most, but say that number cannot be guaranteed.

“In my view, this is a small concession for the chance to have fans routinely behind the goal,” added Hoyle.

“We hope that the great work carried out by the North Stand Loyal group will continue in the South Stand and that fans will raise the roof supporting the team.”

Hoyle, who has long outlined his plan to move Town forward in a stable and sustainable way, emphasised the need for the club to be financially competitive.

“I will continue to support and subsidise losses, but a price increase to season cards is unavoidable,” he explained.

“We have kept the general increase to broadly 5% across the board, which still gives big savings on matchday prices.

“Some concession prices increased to reflect the stadium rental arrangements.

“We are once again offering the opportunity to pay over 10 months interest free for a limited period subsidised by the club at £20 per application.”

Hoyle also confirmed that outgoings during the January transfer window have provided “the opportunity for summer additions and for our developing academy players to make a mark on the first team.”
