TOWN Ladies Under 13s took centre stage – and went six points clear at the top of Division I.

While the first team, reserves and Under 18s were all rained off, the Under 13s scored an excellent 1-0 win at Doncaster Rovers Belles thanks to a goal from Amy Broomhead.

As in their first game earlier in the season, there was very little to choose between the two teams.

Doncaster had the better of the opening exchanges and pinned Town back in their own half, but they failed to create any clear-cut chances.

On nine minutes, however, Town grabbed the advantage from a quick break.

From a through pass, Tara Duce hit a powerful shot which the Doncaster keeper could only parry and Broomhead followed up to score.

On 15 minutes Duce almost doubled Town’s lead with another powerful shot, but this time the keeper made a solid save.

Town were restricting Doncaster to long-range efforts and their back four worked tirelessly to keep out the home side.

Isobel Pare, in Town’s goal, also made some clean saves and it was Town who had the next clear chance on 50 minutes, Ella Harris breaking free but firing wide of the target.

Doncaster applied more and more pressure towards the end and created a number of decent chances, but Pare pulled off some fine saves, including an excellent save low to her right with 10 minutes remaining.

On Saturday, the Under 13s entertain fourth-placed Wickersley Youth at Grange Moor (10am).

The Under 18s travel to Barnsley Ladies on Saturday (10am) while the first team and reserves hope to be back in action on Sunday.

Warrenside is the venue for the first team’s clash with Mossley Hill (2pm), while the reserves face Wakefield (1pm).
