HUDDERSFIELD Town's on-loan left back Liam Ridehalgh looks set to extend his stay with Swindon Town until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old joined the League II outfit on an initial one-month loan deal towards the end of September before being extended until December 30.
That would mean the Academy product's last game for the Robins, currently fifth in the league, would be the trip to Torquay on Boxing Day.
However, after speaking with the Wiltshire club's interim chairman Jeremy Wray earlier this week, Ridehalgh has expressed a desire to stay at Swindon.
He said: “I have spoken to the chairman and he has asked Huddersfield for permission to keep me at Swindon until the end of the season and I believe they have agreed.
“I’d love to stay because we have a lot of things to look forward to. We are in a good position in the league, we have Wigan at home in the FA Cup and also the area final of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, so it is looking good for Swindon Town.”
Fans have taken to Ridehalgh, who has been an important part of a defence which has helped to keep the most clean sheets in the entire Football League.
Ridehalgh has so far made 11 appearances for Swindon, but it is not just on the pitch he feels that the loan spell has helped him develop.
“It has been a good learning curve both on the field and also off it,” added Ridehalgh in an interview with the Swindon Advertiser.
“I think the experience I have gained off the field has helped my performances on the pitch because of the stuff I have had to do that I am not used to.
“I live with my parents back home but I have come down here and I am living on my own and that has helped because I am only young still.”
