I HAVE happy memories of our last two home matches against Hull – because I scored in both of them!

Back in 2004-05, we were 4-0 winners, with Pawel Abbott, Rob Edwards and Chris Brandon also on the scoresheet.

And the season before, when we both came up from League II, we won 3-1, when Jon Stead and Danny Schofield got the other goals.

It’s amazing to think what Hull have achieved since then, going all the way to the Premier League, where they had two eventful seasons between 2008-10 after Dean Windass fired them to Championship play-off glory with that great goal against Bristol City.

Dean is a Hull man through and through, but he has Town connections after his son Josh was in our academy, and what with his Bradford link into the bargain, I’m sure he’ll be an entertaining pre-match guest down at Canalside next Saturday.

The question and answer session will start that bit later than usual, around 2.30, because the game doesn’t start until 5.20 because of Sky coverage.

We’ve had a full house of results in front of their cameras this season, losing 1-0 at Cardiff on the opening night of the Championship campaign, winning 3-1 at Blackpool in what many reckon was our best performance of the season to date, and drawing 1-1 at Crystal Palace just before Christmas.

There is a common theme in that we produced decent displays in all three of the games.

Hopefully that will be the case again, and while Hull are a very good side who have a great shout of getting back into the top flight, we have shown some glimpses of what we’re about of late.

Some of the lads would probably have preferred another game soon after that superb 2-1 win at Leeds.

But the calendar is what it is, and there are positives about the international break. It’s a chance to clear up some nagging injuries and recharge the batteries ready for the crucial closing stages of the season.

Hopefully new Jamaica international Jermaine Beckford, like all our players who are away, will come back fit because it was great to see him make a comeback against his old club Leeds.

He can still make a major contribution for us.

SAN MARINO were duly seen off with the minimum of fuss – now for an altogether sterner test.

I’m looking forward to England’s big World CUp qualifier in Montenegro tomorrow.

Both teams will go into the clash in good heart, England after netting eight without replay and the Group H leaders after their 1-0 win in Moldova.

Of course everyone expected San Marino to be outclassed, and you can’t read too much into the match on Friday.

But you can only play who you are up against, and Roy Hodgson’s men went about their task very professionally, racking up their highest win since 1987.

Scoring so many will have boosted confidence and also our goal difference, which is now 18 as opposed to Montenegro’s 11.

Win in Montenegro, and we will be a point clear at the top with four games to go, and that’s a decent position to be in, particularly since we have still got to play them at home.

I saw some snippets of their game against Moldova on TV, and from what I’ve read, they have some good players.

Stevan Jovetic is reported to be a target of Arsenal while Mirko Vucinic, who scored their winner three days ago, is an important player for them.

They had midfielder Milorad Pekovic sent off, so he will be suspended against England. Hopefully he’ll be a big miss!

Montenegro, who twice gave us problems in the Euro 2012 qualifiers, look set to play 4-5-1, and with a draw, on balance, being better for them, it will be interesting to see how Hodgson approaches the game from a tactical point of view.

Montenegro have made a habit of winning 1-0. If we could do that, it would be fantastic.

I’VE known the start of the Huddersfield Cricket League season to be snowed off in the past.

But the volume of white stuff which has fallen of late has taken most of us by surprise – and spoiled the sporting calendar.

It certainly meant frustration for Town man Ollie Norwood, who was hoping for a 10th Northern Ireland cap against Russia, only for the game in Belfast to be hit by the freeze – twice!

A new date must now be found – not an easy task given an already busy calendar, while officials will be desperately hoping tomorrow’s game against Israel can go ahead.

Racing was also ruined, including the big Lincoln meeting at Doncaster.

The Giants did get the green light at Warrington – and well done to those fans who braved the Pennines – it was just a shame about the result.
