Chris Powell has called on Huddersfield Town’s fans to crank up the decibels and help their team extend the unbeaten run to seven with victory against Nottingham Forest.

The John Smith’s Stadium boss is eager to make the most of Saturday’s fixture as it’s the only one in four matches ahead of the next international break.

Town, of course, have just returned from Ipswich with a character-packed 2-2 draw and, after Saturday, they visit Derby County on Tuesday (November 4) and finish next week at Fulham (November 8).

It’s a testing run of Championship matches, but Powell says the squad are in buoyant mood as they prepare to face a Forest side who remain seventh under Stuart Pearce despite failing to win in eight matches in all competitions.

“Our focus this week is to make sure we keep our spark and are ready for a tough home game,” said Powell, who has options to again switch his starting line-up and formation.

“It will be good to play at home with our fans driving us on and, hopefully, they can help us get three points.”

Powell has been delighted with the backing at the John Smith’s since he took charge at the beginning of last month, but vocal support is vital this weekend with Forest already set to bring more than 3,000 travelling reds.

While Town have already sold almost 2,000 tickets for the match at Craven Cottage a week on Saturday, Tuesday’s trip to Derby County is not so well subscribed, even though tickets are on general sale now from the ticket office and usual channels.

The manager gave his own salute to the 486 fans who made it to Ipswich, especially as many had disrupted travel by train.

While some were forced to abandon their journey at Peterborough and return to West Yorkshire, others continued to Portman Road by taxi, many picking up additional bills of £25 or £30 each to get to Suffolk on time to see Nahki Wells’ double and Town fight back from 2-0 down.
