There's no chance of Huddersfield Town switching off when they host promotion-chasing Derby County.

Manager Chris Powell goes into the clash with his former club desperate for a third win in four games.

Derby manager Steve McClaren was club coach when Powell played there for two and a half years during the nineties.

Under boss Jim Smith, Powell helped the Rams win promotion to the Premier League in 1996.

Nineteen years on, McClaren aims to follow suit, with his side fifth with a four-point cushion over seventh-placed Brentford.

They will be looking to cement their place in the top six,” said Powell, who has Harry Bunn available after a hamstring injury.

“We will look to carry on the rich vein of form we are in, and this is a game we want to win.

“We have our own league position (Town are currently 16th) and momentum to think about.

“I want there to be a feelgood factor as we go into the close-season. I think that’s important.

“This will be a good game and a good test for us.

“We have performed against a number of the leading sides, so let’s go again.

“We played well and won at home to Brentford, Watford and Ipswich, and we should have beaten Norwich.”

Powell continued: “Derby are a club I played for many moons ago.

“Steve McClaren was my coach under Jim Smith. He has done well rebuilding not only Derby but his own career.

“But he will know I have to be professional. I have to do my job and that’s to do my best to get three points.”

Town have done just that at home to Ipswich and Nottingham Forest, while they drew at Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton to make it four games unbeaten.

Derby led the table at the end of February but slipped as a result of seven games without a win.

However they have won two out of their last three, against Wigan Athletic and Blackpool, and like Town, have two wins and two draws in four games.

“Derby had disappointment in the play-off final last season,” recalled Powell.

“I was at the game and they dominated against QPR, who scored with pretty much their only chance.

“Steve had to pick them up over the summer, and they were in a really strong position.

“They had a run of form which wasn’t great, but they have picked up again recently.

“But from our perspective, it’s not about them, it’s about us trying to flourish.”

While Bunn could feature for the first time in seven games after a hamstring injury, fellow forward James Vaughan is set to miss a second game. The former Derby loan player jarred a knee during last Saturday’s 1-0 win at Forest.
