Chris Powell wants to follow the Blackburn Rovers path by making Huddersfield Town a top-10 Championship club.

The sides clash at the John Smith’s Stadium in Town’s final home game of the campaign with Rovers in ninth place.

Powell, whose side are 15th and like their visitors, unbeaten in five matches, is full of admiration for the job opposite number Gary Bowyer has done.

“They have had the excitement of their FA Cup run (to the quarter-finals, where they lost out to Liverpool),” said Powell.

“But they have also been very solid in the league for the last couple of seasons.

“Gary got his chance and has really settled the club down.

“For all that has gone on there in the past, there seems to be stability now.

“They have a couple of outstanding goalscorers in Rudy Gestede (20 goals this season) and Jordan Rhodes (19).

“But they certainly aren’t a two-man team. They have some good players

“I saw them play the other night, and while Millwall were in the ascendancy, Blackburn stayed in it.

“In the end, their two main scorers scored, which is what you want them to do, and they won 2-0.

“They will give us a good game, but it’s important we maintain our progress.”

Powell is hoping James Vaughan (knee) will be fit to return to Town’s line-up.
