HUDDERSFIELD Town boss Mark Robins cast a glance at tha Championship table and ruefully smiled: “It’s incredible!”

While Town romped to a 3-1 win at Bristol City courtesy of James Vaughan’s hat trick, victories for Barnsley, 2-0 at home to Hull, and Peterborough, 1-0 at home to Sheffield Wednesday, ensured that for Robins and his team, despite having 57 points, the fight for second-tier survival will go down to the final day.

If Town take a point or more against Barnsley, once bossed by Robins, at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday, they will be fine.

But if Barnsley win, and so secure their own survival, Town will be relying on one of Wednesday (at home to Middlesbrough), Peterborough (at Crystal Palace) and possibly Millwall (at Derby) not to take all three points.

Millwall have a game in hand, at home to Palace tomorrow, and victory in the South London derby would see them safe.

“To have 57 points, and still not be mathematically safe, it’ amazing, but we’re still in a great position,” said Robins.
