Mark Robins reckons Huddersfield Town have two hot prospects in strikers Danny Carr and Cristian Lopez.

The manager saw both his summer signings score twice as Steve Eyre’s Under 21s beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-1 in their Professional Development League II clash at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Town snapped up former Reading junior Carr, 19, from Dulwich Hamlet and Lopez, 24, from Spanish lower league side Atletico Baleares.

And Robins, taking time out from his preparations for Saturday’s return to Championship action at home to Doncaster, said: “There is a lot of potential there.

“They need to get a bit of guile and game craft, and work hard to be the best they can be on a daily basis, but they are making good progress.

“Their performances will tell me if they are ready for the first team when opportunities to put them in arise.”

Robins, who continues to be linked with a loan move from Swansea’s Welsh international right-back Ashley Richards, also watched Scottish international let-back Paul Dixon and midfielder Keith Southern, who is back from a calf injury, get vital game time against Wednesday.
