Mark Robins aims to add to the air of gloom around Elland Road tomorrow.

But ahead of the big white-rose showdown, he has sympathy with his opposite number Brian McDermott, whose future is in doubt as the Leeds takeover saga rumbles on.

Robins has experienced periods of internal instability with both Rotherham and Coventry during his own managerial career, and said: “I feel for Brian because of the things that are happening behind the scenes.

“We can feel happy we have a stable ownership and environment.

“Leeds are a huge club and no group of supporters or staff deserve to go through any instability.”

Town, currently 13th, will leapfrog Leeds, who are a place and two points above, by chalking up a third straight West Yorkshire derby victory.

Robins added: “It will be a tough task.

“We have to pick points up away from home, and it’s time we got off that 34 mark.”
