Mark Robins is ready to unleash a more relaxed Nahki Wells on Blackpool this Saturday.

The club-record £1.3m signing ended his wait for a goal by netting against Blackburn last time out.

His strike in the 4-2 Championship defeat was his third for the club but first in 10 games.

Now Robins reckons more will follow for Bermudian star Wells, who got 15 for Bradford City this term, before his January switch.

“Nahki is a top player, but he has been adapting to a new club and a new division,” said Robins, who also welcomed back top scorer James Vaughan as a substitute against Blackburn.

“He is getting to grips with things, and I’ve been really pleased with his recent performances.

“It’s not all about scoring goals, and Nahki has been doing a lot of good work for the team.

“But he’s a striker at the end of the day, and I was delighted he scored against Blackburn.

“You could sense some tension was released when the ball hit the back of the net.

“Hopefully he will now get more goals, and it will be interesting to see how his partnership with James Vaughan develops.”

Vaughan, who has 12 goals, was back for a first game in six against Blackburn after a torn calf muscle.

He played the final 22 minutes, and set up Wells’ goal.

The pair have only twice started alongside each other, at home to Wigan and Nottingham Forest last month.

Vaughan showed no ill-effects after his appearance against Blackburn and Robins explained: We will assess him over the next couple of days to decide if he starts at Blackpool or is on the bench.”

Robins will also run checks on centre-backs Joel Lynch, who has had groin surgery, and Anthony Gerrard, who has a toe problem.
