ANTON ROBINSON paid tribute to manager Lee Clark for Huddersfield Town’s record run and keeping the squad focused on their prime target – promotion.

Town have set a new Football League record of 43 matches unbeaten and bid to extend it against League I leaders Charlton at The Valley tonight.

Robinson, who added steel as a second-half substitute in the 2-1 win over Notts County, said: “The gaffer (Clark) has never emphasised the record. The focus has always been the next game.

“I think that’s part of the reason why we’ve done so well. It’s all about what we can do to get a result in the next match. It’s never about looking too far ahead.

“What he’s also done is he’s built a squad in which all the lads care about each other. And even if you’re not starting there’s still a role for you.

“I’ve been out of the team for a couple of months. But he’s taken me to one side and told me I’ll get a chance. He’s probably the best manager I’ve worked under.”

On the unbeaten record Robinson added: “It’s something that’ll stay with you until the day you die. I’m so proud to have been part of something like this.”

He also explained his second-half role against Martin Allen’s men, which came about after striker Alan Lee was sent off for alleged retaliation against defender Sam Sodje.

Town went to one up front while winger Gary Roberts made way for Robinson, who said: “It was about having two banks of four.

“We wanted to make sure that if they had the ball then they couldn’t get through. It meant I tucked in from the right and Scott Arfield tucked in from the left.

“I thought the plan worked well. “
