Jonathan Hogg says Ross Wilson will be missed when he leaves Huddersfield Town for Southampton.

The club’s director of football operations was instrumental in taking the midfielder to Watford from Aston Villa, then to Town from Vicarage Road.

“Ross is a great bloke and very good at his job,” said Hogg of the Scotsman who started his career at hometown club Falkirk.

“Because he was at Watford, I have known him for a while, and he has helped me out a lot over the years.

“I think all the players would say that, because he is always around and he’s the kind of bloke you can go to if you have a problem or something which needs sorting out.

“Obviously there’s a lot more to his job than that, and from what I have seen, he knows how football works and has many good contacts.

“We’ll be sorry to see him go, and we will miss him, but Southampton are a leading club and it’s the kind of opportunity most people would jump at.”
