Oscar Gobern says successive home games give Huddersfield Town the perfect opportunity to put to bed any lingering concerns of being involved in a relegation scrap.

After Bolton come Ipswich on Tuesday.

And having started the drawn clashes with Middlesbrough and Reading, the midfielder is desperate to retain his place.

“We’ve had two draws, but feel we should have won both,” said the 23-year-old.

“Now we have a great chance to get two wins, and while we are expecting tough games, that’s our aim.

“We have shown that when we’re on form, we’re a match for anyone in this division. We have to make sure we hit our top form and make the most of home advantage.

“I thought we dominated down at Reading, but when you do that, you have to make it count.

“Defensively, we need the same resolve, because we gave them very little in open play.”

Former Southampton man Gobern has made 12 starts and 10 further appearances from the bench this term.

His aim is to add seven more starts to that tally by featuring in all the remaining games.

“I haven’t hit the standards I set myself regularly enough,” he said.

“Starting the last two games has enabled me to get a bit of rhythm.

“Now I aim to push on and take the chance the manager has handed me.”

If selected against Bolton, Gobern could face former Town teammates Jermaine Beckford and Neil Danns.

“They are both good players and good lads,” he said.

“They are big personalities, but in a good way.

“Jermaine can seem very quiet in games, but will pop up and punish you.

“He’s tenacious, he always wants the ball and as our fans will know, he is a quality finisher.

“Dannsy is lively and full or energy. I remember him playing for us with a suspected broken toe, which shows his commitment.”

The Patrons are running a coach to nest Saturday’s game at Derby.

It’s open to non-members and departs the stadium at 10.00am.

The £17 price includes coach travel and a carvery lunch.
