Martin Cranie says Huddersfield Town have to stop playing catch-up.

Chris Powell’s side have gone behind in seven of their 10 Championship games to date.

Of those, they have won just one (at home to Bolton) and drawn two (at home to Brighton and Forest).

Town began brightly at Wolves, only to lose their way. A 3-0 win for the Molineux side left Town 18th.

And right-back Cranie said: “When we’re on top in games, we need to get the first goal.

“We were on the front foot against Wolves but couldn’t make it count.

“We seem to do that a lot. It happened in our previous game against Nottingham Forest and we fell behind around about the same time.”

Former Barnsley player Cranie continued: “We fought back against Forest, but once Wolves got their goal, we lost our way a bit.

“We were left playing catch up, and we couldn’t get back into it.

“We said at half-time, when it was 1-0, that the next goal would be crucial and we felt that if we could get it, we could go on and win.

“But they got it, and then we really had to take risks to try and get back in it. Sadly, it wasn’t to be.”

It was Town’s heaviest defeat of the campaign, but Cranie remains upbeat.

“We’ve played well in most of our matches this season and we should have more points on the board to show for it,” he added. “The Wolves setback was very disappointing. Maybe it’s a good thing that we’ve have the international break now because it gives us the chance to take stock and get ourselves together.”
