Key Events
Signing off
That’s all from us today.
We’ll be back again tomorrow with all the build up to England’s friendly against Spain at Wembley as well as all the breaking Town news.
As usual, I’ll leave you with the latest Championship transfer rumours.
Have a great evening.
Referee appointments
James Adcock will take charge of Town’s match against Cardiff this weekend.
The official has averaged 3.8 yellow cards per game and has not given a red in any of his nine matches this campaign.
Goal of the year
This free kick - struck by Colorado Rapids’ Gashi - was voted the MLS goal of the year.
Technology
Italy’s friendly match with Germany tomorrow will feature video replays for key refereeing decisions.
Two video referees will look at any goals, penalties awarded, red cards given out and mistaken identities as part of a ‘semi-live’ trial.
The referee will not be allowed to view the footage.
UEFA President Gianni Infantino has previously stated his desire for the 2018 World Cup to be the first major tournament to use such technology.
And Ex-Netherlands striker Marco Van Basten is also a fan of the idea.
On the influence of technology, he said:
Football will not be changed by this and I hope that football will become more honest.
I am convinced it will be good. It may take some time. Players, referees will have to adapt a bit but it will be good.
