EX HuddersfieldTown striker Alan Lee is closing in on his UEFA B coaching badge – and plotting the next step in his nomadic career.

The popular former Town frontman , 34, has been on an intensive course in Belfast, but hasn’t ruled out continuing as a player.

“I still feel fit enough to carry on, and I certainly have the hunger, but I’ve also enjoyed the coaching course immensely,” he said.

“It all depends on what opportunities come along. Whether playing or perhaps coaching at academy level, it would have to be at the right club and in the right place for me and my family.”

Sources suggest Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore wants a reunion with Lee, who played for him at Rotherham from 2000 to 2003.

It was a highly successful stint for the rugged striker, who left Town at the end of the season after scoring 12 goals in 46 starts and 55 appearances from the bench.

Rotherham won promotion to what is now the Championship in Lee’s first season.

And overall, the £150,000 buy from Burnley netted 41 goals in 122 games.

Lee left Millmoor for Cardiff in an £850,000 deal and went on to win 10 caps for the Republic of Ireland.

Lee, out of contract at Town and not offered new terms, has also played for Aston Villa, Ipswich and Crystal Palace, from whom Town signed him in a £400,000 deal in August 2010.

Tranmere, where former player Moore is in his second spell as manager, finished 11th in League I last season, having led the table until the final third of the campaign.
