TOWN players – and local inventor Wilf Lunn – have joined the Go-Kart Challenge!

The community project in which students from 14 senior schools design, build then race their karts, is being run by the football club and partner David Brown, the famous Huddersfield engineering firm.

Now Rastrick-born Lunn, well known for his appearances on the television programme Vision On during the 1970s, has been recruited as a judge by Town ambassador Andy Booth, who is driving the project which culminates in a race day at the Galpharm on Wednesday, April 6.

“It is tremendous news that Wilf has signed up to be a celebrity judge for the challenge,” said Examiner columnist Booth.

“He has such an illustrious background in the world of inventing and innovation and he will be able to offer a unique insight into that side of things.

“The project has really taken off since the participating schools started in September and with the help of the excellent David Brown engineers, the karts are coming along nicely.”

Each schools has been assigned a Town player to lead their team.
