Mark Hudson says Huddersfield Town players are prepared for a tough pre-season.

German head coach David Wagner’s liking for full-throttle football means high fitness levels are crucial.

All squad members are following an individual training schedule before the big return on Friday, June 24.

Wagner will take his squad to Sweden for a team-bonding training camp before the opening friendly at Guiseley on Wednesday, July 6.

Town have also fixed up a trip to Oldham Athletic on Saturday, July 16.

Wagner’s side are likely to play two other games before a second training camp in Austria.

The new season starts on the weekend of August 6/7, with fixtures out on Wednesday, June 22.

“I think it will be a hard pre-season and a few have been told it will be their toughest yet,” said experienced skipper Hudson, 34.

“You want to do as well as you can through the season and having a full pre-season will give us a great base and solidity through the club.

“It will only help us going forward.”

Town are aiming to progress after finishing 19th in the Championship this season.
