SIMON GRAYSON will lead Huddersfield Town down Wembley Way – two days early.

Town’s boss wants his players to get the feel of the national stadium well before Saturday’s League I play-off final showdown with Sheffield United.

The squad will leave Huddersfield tomorrow, staying overnight in the Midlands before training then heading down to the capital on Thursday, when they will visit the 90,000 arena.

Grayson, who was a League I play-off winner there with Blackpool in 2007, soon after the refurbished £737m venue was opened, explained: “I just want the players to see the stadium and get a feel for the lay-out of the place, the dressing rooms and the pitch.

“It’s pretty impressive, and hopefully they’ll get the ‘wow’ factor out of the way and be able to focus on the matter at hand come Saturday.”

Having trained at the Galpharm yesterday, Town will have another work-out in Huddersfield today and complete their preparations at Brentford’s training ground on Friday.

A week after his side completed their passage to the final by beating MK Dons 3-2 on aggregate, Grayson added: “The lads are buzzing, and so they should be.

“We’ve got a great match to look forward to, but as I’ve said consistently, we’re going there to do a job.

“Sheffield United will have exactly the same approach, and we know we’re in for a test, but we’ve worked hard on a game-plan and we’ll be ready.”

While Town monitor the fitness of keeper Ian Bennett (hand) and midfielder Scott Arfield (ankle), Sheffield United’s main doubt is over their Scotland Under 21 midfield man Kevin McDonald (hamstring).

Experienced Striker Richard Cresswell is expected to recover from an eye infection.
