Chris Powell admitted there are still things Huddersfield Town need to improve on before they run out at Hull City next week.
The manager conducted an hour-long debrief of the whole pre-season with his squad after the 2-1 defeat to Barnsley which was watched by 647 travelling fans in a crowd of 2,787 at Oakwell.
Adam Hammill did not travel and could be set for a move away, with Preston said to be in the hunt, but Powell's focus now turns to the big Championship opener.
Nahki Wells put Town ahead before Sam Winnall and Mason Holgate gave Barnsley the win.
Powell said: "We started well and our best passage of play led to a goal, but I wanted to see more of that over the 90 minutes.

"Now we have a clear week to build up to the Hull game and while we haven't had the positive end to pre season that we wanted, it's all about next Saturday when we are playing for points in another Yorkshire derby against an ex-Premier League side.
"What I have said to the players is that we have to be ready for that challenge."
Striker Ishmael Miller played for the first time in the warm-up matches and Powell confirmed he will do more work, alongside James Vaughan, in the next few days.
"There are things I'm looking for that I don't think I have seen yet and there are some good things we need to do more of," said the boss.
"We need to press our advantage and quality more, and there are things we need to improve on as individuals and as a unit to be ready for the season, but there is more to come and we are really looking forward to it."
