Huddersfield Town reported back for pre season training on Friday morning to begin preparations for the new Championship season.

David Wagner has seven weeks to mould his squad into the best possible shape before kick off on August 6 at home to Brentford.

The head coach has had considerable influence on the pre season plans, and this is a widely different schedule than the players have undergone in previous seasons.

Rather than turning up at PPG Canalside, the squad met up for initial medical checks closer to the airport before flying out to Sweden for the first phrase of the programme.

Wagner, 44, is keeping tight-lipped about the exact plans for the trip, but there will be a focus on team bonding.

The squad, complete with new signing Jack Payne, will then return to England for a series of three local friendlies, including the Shankly Trophy with Liverpool at the John Smith's Stadium on July 20.

That is the only friendly of five to be played at home.
